Ubisoft a choisi, après un casting exhaustif, le mannequin québécois Francisco Randez pour incarner le visage du personnage principal d’Assassin’s Creed. La production cherchait un visage aux traits méditerranéens pour rendre ce personnage du temps des Croisades. C’était la première fois que le mannequin et musicien se prêtait au jeu de la modélisation de son faciès. Il nous raconte son expérience.

« Nous avons eu quelques rencontres avec la production d’Ubisoft, qui m’avait trouvé par le biais de mon agence, Folio, raconte Francisco Randez. Lors de la première rencontre, on a fait un simple shooting photo, en 3D. On m’a photographié le visage de tous les côtés, par en dessus, par en dessous et une première version pour modéliser mon visage en 3D a été réalisée. Puis, dans un deuxième temps, on a fait une autre séance pour photographier des expressions simples, joie, colère, etc., et ensuite des expressions plus complexes. »

« Au départ, c’était inhabituel pour moi, ce genre de boulot, une expérience unique dans une vie et c’est pour ça que je voulais y participer, poursuit le mannequin. Je suis fasciné par le cinéma et Assassin’s Creed est monté comme un film. Le fait d’avoir mon visage associé au personnage principal d’un jeu qui révolutionne le genre m’a apporté beaucoup de plaisir, mais pas vraiment d’autres retombées. L’expérience d’Assassin’s Creed m’a permis de réaliser à quel point Ubisoft avait développé un savoir-faire. Trois cents personnes ont travaillé sur le jeu ! »

Il faut dire que cela fait dix ans que ce visage est connu, Francisco Randez ayant été l’image du parfum Mâle de Jean Paul Gaultier. Le jeune homme a également participé à la nouvelle campagne de Rare Jeans, réalisée par Oliviero Toscani, le photographe italien des campagnes de Benetton. Le jeune Montréalais a aussi décroché le premier rôle du prochain clip de la chanteuse Émilie Bégin. Il est également musicien, membre de la formation Moudjik qu’il a créée avec Jérôme Casanova et Guy Dubuisson.

Et le jeune homme n’exclut pas de se retrouver un jour à l’écran. « Mon frère est acteur et c’est un métier pour lequel j’ai beaucoup de respect. J’aimerais éventuellement jouer, j’ai d’ailleurs déjà pris des cours. Je vis de la scène, que ce soit comme mannequin, musicien ou journaliste à www.Montreal.TV. Si devenir acteur m’arrivait, je m’y mettrai sérieusement, je ne le ferai pas à la légère. »
